Budapest Map

Budding Adventurer in Budapest, Thanks to a Map

With two sides to the city, Budapest is a city just waiting to become the grounds for the budding adventurer in all of us.  On one side, you have the hilly Buda on the west side of the Danube, which comprises Districts I to III, XI to XII and XXII of the city.  On the other side, you will find the flat lands of the Pest on the east side of the river, which consists of District IV to IX and represents the modern center.

Budapest is two places in one city, a place worthy to be called the Pearl of the Danube.  Although it is also called the Little Paris of Central Europe, we believe that it is a comparison best left to others because Budapest has its own flavor distinct from Paris or any other city, for that matter.

You will need a Budapest map for the simple reason that it is a good guide to a city as big and as geographically divided as Budapest.  Just visit the Tourism Office of Budapest to avail of free brochures and a map of the city, both of which will definitely come in handy when planning your itinerary within the city.

And speaking of planning, the first matter for consideration when planning a trip to Berlin is to book a holiday apartment online first. You want to avoid the luxurious hotels for budget reasons but you also want to avoid the budget hostels for reasons of convenience.  Book online and see the difference.

Going back to the maps of Budapest, you should have little difficulty in understanding it especially when the landmarks are in English.  Plus, you can always start from the River Danube to pinpoint landmarks on both the Buda and the Pest side of the city.  Or you may also adopt the approach of other visitors - orient yourself using the rivers that crisscross the Danube!

These bridges will be marked on a good tourist map so that orientation and direction are very easy tasks to accomplish.  Just to name these bridges, you have the Árpád Bridge, the Margaret Bridge, the Chain Bridge, the Elisabeth Bridge, the Liberty Bridge, the PetÅ‘fi Bridge and the Lágymányosi Bridge. Each one is a tourist attraction in its own right so do see all of them, too.

Since Budapest is a sizable city with less-than-friendly bike lanes and traffic jams, you will want to use the public transportation system. In this case, you should also buy a transport map just so you will know when and where to disembark.

If you have stayed long enough to get to know the city of Budapest, maps are unnecessary.  Just go where your mood and feet takes you and then go with the flow of the Danube, as the saying goes around these parts.  And that is how you become an adventurer in the city!
